Acts, ordinances and regulations

• Motor Traffic Act (Cap. 203) — Main law on vehicle registration, driving licences, road rules, insurance and traffic offences.
• Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act, No. 18 of 2017 — Amended the Motor Traffic Act, including traffic offences and fines.
• Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act, No. 10 of 2019 — A later amendment to the Motor Traffic Act.
• National Transport Commission Act — Sets up the National Transport Commission to regulate inter-provincial bus services, permits and fares.
• National Transport Commission (Amendment) Act, No. 6 of 2017 — Amended the National Transport Commission Act.
• Provincial road passenger transport statutes — Each province has its own authority for bus services running inside the province.
• Motor Traffic regulations on spot fines (gazette) — List traffic offences that police can fine on the spot, and the fine amounts.
• Motor Traffic (Emission Control) regulations — Require vehicles to pass an emission test at an authorised centre before revenue licence renewal.
• Speed limit regulations (gazette) — Set maximum speeds for each vehicle class on roads and expressways.
• Road Development Authority Act — Sets up the Road Development Authority to build and maintain national roads and expressways.
• Provincial revenue licence statutes — Provinces issue the yearly vehicle revenue licence through Divisional Secretariats.
