You must hold a valid driving licence for the class of vehicle you drive.
What is wrong

What happens next
Police can stop you and charge you. The case goes to the Magistrate's Court.
The punishment
Fine of Rs. 25,000. The same fine applies to employing a driver who has no licence.
What you can do
- If your licence only expired, renew it at the Department of Motor Traffic and bring proof to court.
- If you had a valid licence but did not carry it, show it to the police or the court.
- You can plead guilty, or defend yourself in the Magistrate's Court.
