The Welfare Benefits Board selects families using set criteria such as income, assets, health, education and housing. Selection cannot be refused for race, religion, language, sex or politics.
What is wrong
- An eligible family is left off the list
- An ineligible person is on the list
- Giving false details in the declaration
- Not reporting a change in income within two months
What happens next
Lists are published and displayed at Divisional Secretariats. Appeals Committees inquire into objections with the Divisional Secretary and report to the Board.
The punishment
- False information: fine up to Rs. 5,000, up to 1 year in prison, or both
- Benefits wrongly received must be refunded
- Unpaid refunds can be recovered through the Magistrate's Court
What you can do
- Check the list at your Divisional Secretariat or Grama Niladhari
- File an appeal or objection within the time given, normally 10 days after the list is published
- Submit online at eservices.gov.lk or on paper at the Divisional Secretariat
- Only one appeal per person; keep a copy and receipt

- தகுதியுள்ள குடும்பம் பட்டியலில் விடுபடுதல்
- தகுதியற்றவர் பட்டியலில் இருத்தல்
- பிரகடனத்தில் பொய்த் தகவல் தருதல்
- வருமான மாற்றத்தை இரண்டு மாதத்துக்குள் அறிவிக்காமை

பட்டியல்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டுப் பிரதேச செயலகங்களில் காட்சிப்படுத்தப்படும். மேன்முறையீட்டுக் குழுக்கள் பிரதேச செயலாளருடன் ஆட்சேபனைகளை விசாரித்துச் சபைக்கு அறிக்கையிடும்.
தண்டனை
- பொய்த் தகவல்: ரூ. 5,000 வரை தண்டம், 1 வருடம் வரை சிறை, அல்லது இரண்டும்
